New Sim Card Rules: It will not be easy to take SIM Card. The central government has made new rules for this. The government has recently taken a decision in which No Your Customer (KYC) flexibility has been abolished and made mandatory for mobile numbers and business calls. The end of KYC Flexibility will curb illegal activities, such as Terror Funding, Money Laundering and Fraud.
Apart from this, it will be ensured that all mobile numbers are connected to registered users, so that it can be easier to reach emergency services and government schemes. This will curb illegal activities. This change will especially affect prepaid users.

Earlier, KYC was flexibility for prepaid users, where they could get a SIM card without the entire KYC, but now this option is over. The biggest impact of the new policy will be on prepaid users, who will no longer be able to get a SIM card without KYC. This process is slightly less convenient, but in the long run it will increase security and confidence. Postpaid users, who have already completed KYC, will have less effect. However, they also have to update KYC from time to time.

What is in the new guideline

Now the KYC process will be compulsory for all mobile numbers, whether prepaid or postpaid. Under the new guidelines, users have to complete KYC with their identity and address proof. This process can be completed in both offline (on telecom stores) or online (through telecom companies’ websites or apps).
