India vs england 1st Test Day 1 Highlights: India dominated the batting on the first day of the first Test against England. Yashasvi Jaiswa scored a brilliant 101 runs in his first Test in England, while Captain Shubman Gill gave an unbeaten 127 not unbeaten and strengthened the Indian innings in Leeds. Rishabh Pant also scored a half -century and India ended the day at a score of 359/3.

India, who came out to bat first after losing the toss, had a strong start. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul did not give any chance to the English bowlers in the first hour. Both of them scored runs with the right balance of patience and aggression and did not let any wickets fall in the first 10 overs. Rahul installed some great cover drives, while Jaiswal sent the balls across the border from below. However, at the end of the session, England got two successes, first Rahul caught in slip for 42 runs and then B Sai Sudarshan, who was debuting, went on without opening an account. India had scored 92/2 runs till lunch.

After lunch, captain Shubman Gill and Jaiswal together broke the expectations of England’s return. Both of them batted and batted and the special thing was that Gill hit the fastest Test fifty of his career (in 56 balls). Jaiswal had trouble with cramps during a century but did not lose courage and completed a brilliant century in 144 balls. Not a single wicket fell in the session and India reached 215/2 by tea.

After tea, Jaiswal could not last long and became a victim of Stokes for 101 runs. After this, Pant and Gill took the front. As soon as Pant arrived, Stokes opened the account by putting a four on the long off and then played his half -century while playing carefully. Gill, on the other hand, looked calm and accurate and returned unbeaten on 127 runs. With this innings, Gill joined the list of selected Indian captains who scored a century in the first innings as his first Test captain.

India finished the first day’s game on a strong score of 359/3, where captain Shubman Gill returned unbeaten after scoring 127 runs and vice -captain Rishabh Pant 65 runs. On the very first day, the way the Indian batsmen faced English bowlers, they have strengthened India’s grip on the match.
