Tehran: In view of the insecurity arising due to the ongoing military conflict between Iran and Israel, the Government of India has started the process of removing its citizens from Iran. The Indian Embassy shared an official information in this regard on Saturday, stating that the country has started the work of bringing its citizens safely to safe indigenous. In this, the government of Iran is fully supporting. Iran has opened its air space for Indians.
Indian Embassy released helpline number
The Indian Embassy in Iran wrote in a post on the microblogging platform ‘X’, “The Indian Embassy is taking out all Indian citizens from Iran.” Along with this, the embassy has also shared an emergency helpline number for contact and a link to a telegram channel. Indian citizens have been advised to contact through these mediums.

The embassy in Iran has also launched a telegram channel from where Indian citizens trapped in Iran can receive immediate information. The Indian Embassy took another important step and informed that India is not only evacuating its citizens, but also assisting in the process of evacuating the citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka. This decision has been taken at the request of the governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka.

In another post, the embassy wrote, “Citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka can also contact us through our Telegram channel or emergency connectivity numbers.” It is clear from this that India has also pioneered the assistance of citizens of neighboring countries on humanitarian grounds. Earlier on Wednesday, the Government of India formally announced “Operation Sindhu”. The purpose of this campaign is to bring back all Indians who are currently living or working in Iran. India has taken this decision with vigilance and sensitivity amidst ever increasing violence and military attacks in the ongoing struggle between Israel and Iran.

The Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy are keeping an eye on the entire situation and the evacuation work is being organized systematically with the cooperation of the local administration. At present, the primary objective of the Government of India is to ensure the safety of its citizens. The embassy has urged all Indians to immediately contact the embassy and follow the necessary instructions, understanding the seriousness of the situation. ‘Operation Indus’ is a proof of India’s quick response and its commitment to the safety of citizens.
