Former Team India spinner Dilip Doshi dies, 898 wickets were taken in first class cricket
Former Indian spinner Dilip Doshi died in London on Monday (June 23), he was 77 years old. Dileep played 33 Tests and 15 ODIs for India. He is survived by his wife Kalindi, a son Nayan and daughter Visakha.
Doshi, who played for India between 1979–83, made his debut at the age of 32, he took 114 wickets in Test cricket, in which he took five wickets in the innings six times. In the ODI, he took 22 wickets in his account.
Dilip, who made his domestic cricket debut in the 1968-69 season, played 238 matches in first class cricket playing for Bengal and Saurashtra, taking 898 wickets and 43 times in the innings. Apart from this, he took 10 wickets outside in domestic cricket. In England, he played county cricket for teams like Nottinghamshire and Warvikashire.
The great all -rounder Sir Gary Sobers once said for Dilip Doshi, “Dilip Doshi has immense knowledge, which they can give to those who want to walk on their path in professional cricket. He has played at all levels around the world and no one can be more worthy to talk about the art of spin bowling.”
