The first English opener to score a century in the fourth innings in WTC

This innings of Ben Docket was also special because after the commencement of WTC, England had played 65 Tests earlier, but no opener could score a century in the fourth innings. The last time was done by Alastair Cook for England in 2010, when he scored an unbeaten 109 against Bangladesh in Mirpur. Now Ben Docket has become the first English opener to do this for England by scoring a century in the fourth innings against India.

Docket batted tremendously in Leeds and not only made a record but also with Zack Croly, an 188 -run opening partnership against India. He completed the century with the help of 14 fours but was caught out for 149 runs off Shardul Thakur. During this innings, he also got a life donation when he was on 97 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal left his catch off Mohammad Siraj, and from there, Docket completed a century by adding three more runs. Earlier in England’s first innings, Docket scored 65 runs.

This year has been very spectacular for Docket. In 2025, he has completed 1000 runs in international cricket so far, which is the highest for any batsman this year. This has been his second Test century against India, and even before that he scored a century in the first Test of this series.
