Pakistan Army Major Killed: Moiz Abbas, an officer of Major rank of the Pakistani Army, has been killed in southern Waziristan. Moiz Abbas is the same Pakistani officer who claimed to catch Abhinandan Vardhman, the pilot wing commander of the Indian Air Force in February 2019. Abhinandan’s fighter aircraft crashed into the Pakistan border when he was responding to the infiltration of Pakistan’s fighter jet. The Pakistani army took him captive after capturing the wing commander. Pakistani media has given information about the death of Moiz Abbas.

TTP ambushed

According to the Pakistani media report, Major Moiz Abbas died on Monday during an encounter with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Southern Waziristan. Here the TTP ambushed the Pakistani army personnel. Two other Pakistani army officers have also been killed in this attack.

When did Moiz Abbas’s name come in the discussion

In February 2019, Moiz Abbas’s name came into the limelight when it was claimed that he was the first Pakistani officer to catch Indian pilot Abhinandan. Moiz Abbas later also gave several interviews. In the interview, he used to say that under which circumstances he had to face Abhinandan Vardhaman.

In December 2007, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was established in the northwest regions of Pakistan. The purpose of this organization is to target the army including the Government of Pakistan and implement Sharia in the country. The TTP’s roots are associated with Afghanistan’s Taliban movement, but this organization has been independently active in Pakistan. It was founded by Betullah Mehsud, who was an influential leader of South Waziristan.

In 2014, TTP attack on an Army Public School in Peshawar was frightening, killing more than 140 students and teachers. After 2020, TTP has re -united several scattered groups. The organization has accelerated the attacks.
