CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) 10th students will give exams 2 times a year from 2026. Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has given this information on Wednesday. According to the new exam pattern, the first exam will be necessary for all students and the second optional.

The first exam will be held in February and the second May. The results will be released in April and June. With this, supplementary exams have been abolished. This decision will not be implemented on the 12th board right now.

3 important things of new exam pattern

In the second examination, the optional exam, students will be allowed to improve their performance in any 3 subjects from Science, Mathematics, Social Science and Language.
Students of Winter Bound Schools (Schools in winter) will be allowed to appear in any of the two examinations.
If a student has not appeared in 3 or more subjects in the first examination, he will not be allowed to appear in the second examination.

Draft was prepared in August 2024

The draft of conducting 2 times a year was prepared in August 2024. During this, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said that just as students have the option to give joint entrance exam (JEE) for admission in engineering colleges two years a year, similarly students will be able to give the exams of 10th twice a year.

The Ministry of Education had discussed the board exam 2 times a year with CBSE Board Secretary and other academics on 19 February last week. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan discussed with CBSE, NCERT, KVS, NVS and many school officials to conduct exams 2 times a year after which this decision has been taken.

Indian Estronaut Shubhanshu Shukla left for International Space Station on 25 June today under Axiom Mission 4. He is the pilot of this mission. Along with them, three other astronauts are also going to the space station. This mission was postponed 6 times before.
