Defense minister Rajnath Singh is Attending the two-day sco defense ministers’ Meeting in China’s Qingdao City.

New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh refused to sign a joint statement at the SCO meeting in China on Thursday. Rajnath Singh raised the issue of terrorism across the border indirectly on Pakistan. During this period, the Defense Minister insisted on India’s anti -terrorism stance, appealing to the member countries to bring the culprits of such acts under the purview of justice. Reports said that the signing of a joint statement in the SCO meeting will weaken India’s attitude against terrorism as it did not even mention the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed on 22 April.

Rajnath Singh targeted Pakistan

Targeting Pakistan, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the culprits, financiers and sponsors of terrorism should be held accountable and should not be adopted double standards in dealing with it. In his address at a conference by Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Singh said that some countries are using terrorism across the border as “policy means” to shelter terrorists.

‘Peace-prosperity and terrorism cannot go on’

Rajnath Singh said, “The biggest challenges in our region are related to peace, security and lack of trust.” He said, “And the root cause of these problems is increasing bigotry, extremism and terrorism.” Singh said that peace, prosperity and terrorism cannot go on. He said that peace cannot be maintained by handing over weapons of collective destruction in the hands of elements and terrorist groups. The Defense Minister said, “Decisional action is required to deal with these challenges and we have to fight against these evils for our collective security.”

‘Do not have double standards against terrorism’

The Defense Minister said that for his narrow and selfish objectives, those who sponsored terrorism, nurtured and use will have to bear the consequences. He said that there should be no place for double standards in dealing with terrorism. Singh said that the SCO should not hesitate to criticize countries adopting double standards in dealing with this threat.

Rajnath Singh told India’s policy against terror

Rajnath Singh also said that the method of Pahalgam terror attack was like the previous terrorist attacks of Lashkar-e-Taiba in India. He said that India is adopting a policy of not tolerating terrorism at all. The Defense Minister also said that India has been adamant on its policy in support of peace, security and stability in Afghanistan.
