Amidst stressful relations, India imposed a ban on import of some jute products and woven clothing through land routes from Bangladesh. According to PTI news, however, the Director General of External Affairs (DGFT) said in a notification that imports are allowed to be done only through Nhawa Sheva port in Maharashtra. Banned products include flax products, flax tox and waste, jute and other bast fiber, jute, single flax yarn, jute single yarn, multiple folded, woven fabrics or flakes and woven fabric without flax and jute.

Transmission facility given to Bangladesh returns

On May 17, India had banned the import of some items such as readymade garments and processed food items from the neighboring country. On 9 April, India withdrew transmission facility to Bangladesh for exporting various goods to the Middle East, Europe and other countries except Nepal and Bhutan. These measures were announced in the backdrop of controversial statements made in China by Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. The Indo-Bangladesh relations have declined dramatically after Younus failed to stop attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, to stop attacks.
