At the same time, during the rath yatra, an ambulance reached amid a huge crowd. However, about 1500 BJP Yuva Morcha volunteers made way for ambulances, showing their dedication to public service. For this, the workers formed a human chain in the middle of the road, through which the ambulance passed through. Actually, the festival of Rath Yatra was celebrated with great pomp in Puri, Odisha today. During this time, thousands of people pulled ropes associated with the chariots of Lord Jagannath and his siblings towards the Sri Gundecha temple. Sri Gundicha Temple is about 2.6 km from the 12th century Lord Jagannath Temple. Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, CM Mohan Charan Majhi was also among those who pulled the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra. During this time, the ‘Taldhwaj’ chariot of Lord Balabhadra moved forward at four in the evening between the announcement of ‘Jai Jagannath’ and ‘Hari Bol’ and the sound of chasa-mange, trumpet and conch shell. After this, the ‘Darpadalan’ chariot of Goddess Subhadra and finally the ‘Nandighosh’ chariot of Lord Jagannath left.
More than one million devotees attended
Officials said that this time about one million devotees have gathered to join the rath yatra. Around 10,000 security personnel were deployed in the city for the Rath Yatra. On the other hand, Odisha DGP YB Khurania said, “We have made all possible arrangements for the smooth operation of the rath yatra.” He said that more than 275 CCTV cameras equipped with AI are monitoring the crowd. Apart from this, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar said that security has been increased keeping in mind some information received after the Pahalgam terror attack. He said that in addition to the Odisha police, eight pieces of Central Armed Police Force including three teams of RAF have been deployed.
