More than 40000 runs and 85 centuries, former England cricket team batsman Wen Larkins dies

Former England and Northamptonshire batsman Wayne Larkins died at the age of 71, he has been ill for some time. Larkinz, popularly known as “Ned”, played 13 Tests and 25 ODIs for England between 1979 and 1991. In which he scored 493 runs and 591 runs respectively.

He was also a part of the 1979 World Cup final for England, in which he batted at number 7 and also hit two overs.

But his best time came when he scored a winning run in Sabina Park and gave England an unexpected 1-0 lead on the 1989–90 tour. It was 16 years later when England won against the West Indies. This was the seventh Test of his career and played his sixth Test eight years ago.

He would not have been banned for three years due to his involvement in South Africa’s rebel tour in 1982 if he would have played in his career and Test matches.

He played more than 700 matches for the County Club Northamptonshire in domestic cricket, besides he was part of Durham’s team. He scored more than 40000 runs, including first class cricket and list A and scored 85 centuries. He scored 27142 runs in first class cricket and 13594 runs in List A.
