Damu Ravi, Secretary, Economic Relations Department of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, said that there was a detailed talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ghana President John Mahama to increase defense cooperation. During this time Ghana showed “clear interest” in the supply of defense equipment, training and defense systems from India. In a press conference, Ravi said, “The third major region is of defense cooperation. Ghana especially has security concerns about the emerging terrorism and seafood from the northern region, Sahel region. So Ghana has shown clear interest in the supply of equipment, security personnel training and defense systems from India. India has now become a leading country in defense exports.”

Solidarity shown on Pahalgam terror attack

Ravi also said that President Mahama has expressed solidarity with India against the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam. 26 innocent people were killed in this attack. The terrorists shot him by asking religion. During this time, the leaders of India and Ghana “expressed concern about how terrorism is affecting the world. President Mahama expressed clear support and solidarity towards India in this war against terror. He strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack.”

Ghana entered into 4 important compromises with India with interest in defense
