PM modi ghana visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ghana on a two -day visit. Four important agreements have been signed between India and Ghana during the tour. Prime Minister Modi also addressed Ghana’s Parliament during his visit. Before leaving for Trinidad and Tobago from Ghana, PM Modi has given unique and beautiful gifts to Ghana’s President John Mahama, his wife and the Speaker of Parliament, India’s traditional artifacts. Through these special gifts, PM Modi has presented a glimpse of Indian art, workmanship and heritage.
What did PM Modi give to President Mahama?
Prime Minister Modi has presented Ghana’s President John Mahama a vase of famous Bidari art of Karnataka. The very special pair of the vase have been prepared in Bidar district of Karnataka. Bidari metal art is known for its dark black background and fine silver workmanship made on it. It uses a mixture of zinc and copper, on which beautiful figures of flowers and leaves are carved.

Prime Minister Modi has presented the silver purse with the famous Tarakasi workmanship of Cuttack in Odisha to Lordina Mahama, the wife of the President of Ghana. This purse is woven through hand with very delicate and fine silver wires. It has a design of vine-boots and flowers, which makes it very attractive and culturally rich.

Prime Minister Modi has presented the elephant Ambavari prepared in West Bengal to Ghana Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin. It is a symbol of the monarchy traditions and artistic heritage of India. In this Ambavari, a grand ride, umbrella and flower workmanship adorned on the elephant is carved very closely.

PM Modi has also given a special gift to Ghana’s Vice President Jane Nana Opoku-Agamang. PM Modi has gifted Pashmina Shawl to the Vice President. Pashmina shawl with extraordinary quality and unmatched beauty comes from Jammu and Kashmir. The story of the shawl begins with Changthangi goat living in high areas of Ladakh. A soft fiber is made by combing with hand to shawls, which is called Pashma. The fiber is converted into yarn in a traditional way after which Pashmina Shawl is made.
