Big relief from national consumer helpline: Consumers get thick refund in 2 months

The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has helped the retail vendors including e-commerce companies to get a refund of Rs 7.14 crore in the last two months. In an official statement on Friday, this was said. According to PTI news, 15,426 consumer complaints related to refund claims were resolved with the help of helpline. These complaints were related to 30 areas. The NCH is a major initiative of the department and it plays an important pre-litigation role in resolving consumer grievances rapidly and cordially.

Most complaints in e-commerce sector

According to the news, the redressal of consumer complaints at the National Consumer Helpline level reduces the burden on the Consumer Commissions under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The department further explained that the maximum number of 8,919 complaints were filed in the e-commerce sector. Therefore, the refund was also the highest in the region by Rs 3. 69 crore. The statement said, between 25 April to June 30, 2025, refund feature of Rs 7.14 crore reflects the efficacy and accountability of the helpline, inspired by the expansion of convergence partners and strong stake involvement.

Where can you complain on need

On the National Consumer Helpline, consumers can file their complaints in 17 languages ​​through toll free number 1915. They can also complain through the Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism (Ingram), which is an all-channel, IT-competent central portal. Many channels are available for this purpose, including WhatsApp, SMS, Email, NCH app, web portal (consumerhelpline.gov.in) and Umang App.

The National Consumer Disputes Prevention Commission i.e. NCDRC is a semi-judicial commission in India which was established in 1988 under the Consumer Protection Act 1986. Its headquarters is in New Delhi. According to Rule 3 (12) (A) of the Tribunal (Conditions of Services) Rules, 2021, the Commission is headed by an existing or retired judge of the Supreme Court of India or an existing or retired Chief Justice of a High Court.
