Unheard story of Jackie Shroff’s life: from South Bombay to Superstar
Bollywood’s iconic star Jackie Shroff, which is called Jaggu Dada with fans love, recently shared the aspects of his life in Filmfare’s special show in the Ring with Filmfare that had rarely emerged before. In this conversation, he described childhood memories, brother’s death, film career and the nuances of relationships in a very emotional manner.
Childhood Days: Where CM, Driver and Kitchen were all friends
Jackie Shroff said that his childhood was spent in the streets of South Bombay, where he was associated with people from every section. He said, “I lived my life without any level. CM used to play cricket there and the kitchen was also my friend. I got a chance to know every color of human life.”
Brother’s death: who ripped the heart
Being emotional, Jackie said, “When I was 10 years old, my brother passed away. He was everything for me. He used to come to school. His death shook my world.” This experience changed them to a very deep level.
Start of film career: When behind photo was identified
Recalling the time of his first film Hero, Jackie laughed and says, “The poster had a photo of my back and my friend said- ‘Jackie is your photo!’ I was thinking- ‘Why not next?’ Then slowly close-ups started coming and people started recognizing. ”
Did not lose criticism: Experience is considered to be the biggest guru
Jackie told that he never let the criticisms dominate him. “Critic work is to write, I cannot say anything. I learned everything from experience. Let me live everything, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, memories. He was my turning point.”
Friendship and Bandhan: Special relationship with Danny, Dimple and Amrita
Jackie told that some special friends in his film world like Danny Dengeongpa, Dimple Kapadia and Amrita Singh. “We used to drink, sing, cook, plant together. Danny and I used to think the same. I learned a lot from these friends.”
Talk of directors: Mahesh Bhatt’s passion for ‘feel’
Talking about the film Kash with director Mahesh Bhatt, he said, “Bhatt Saheb was very passionate. He used to talk only about ‘feel’. We made a whole film on the same word.”
Days of love and youth: Love notes were written for Ayesha
Recalling the old days with his wife Ayesha Shroff, Jackie said, “I used to write love notes to Ayesha, used to go to the beauty parlor with mother’s powder, dance all night. Now I miss everything.”
Knowledge on relationships: “Saying sorry is the victory of a man”
In his familiar style, Jackie says, “I always say- the last word of the man should be sorry. Do not fight with women. She is like an atom bomb.”
