Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray held a rally on ‘Marathi Ekta’ in the Worli Auditorium in Mumbai on Saturday amid controversy over Hindi in Maharashtra. Both targeted the Hindi-Marathi language dispute, Mumbai-Maharashtra, BJP and the central government for 48 minutes.
Said that the three -language formula came from the center. There is no objection to Hindi, but it should not be imposed. If fighting for Marathi is hooliganism then we are goons.
Uddhav and Raj appeared on a stage after 20 years. Bala Saheb was last seen together at Thackeray’s rally in 2006. After making Uddhav the head of the Shiv Sena, Raj formed a separate party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The relationship between the two was not good then.
The three -language formula came from the center: ‘Where did this three language formula come from, it has come only from the central government. Everything is in English today in the High Court and Supreme Court. This is not the case in any other state. Why so only in Maharashtra? When Maharashtra wakes up, the world sees.
Not only our children, all English schools: If our children go to English medium, then questions arise on our Marathi. LK Advani studied at Missionary School. Stalin, Kanimozhi, Jayalalitha, Nara Lokesh, R Rahman, Surya, in the south have all studied in English. Rahman left the dias when a speaker started speaking in Hindi. Balasaheb and my father Srikanth Thackeray have studied in English, but they were very sensitive to the mother tongue Marathi.
If you beat someone, don’t make a video: ‘Whether it is Gujarati or someone else, he should come to Marathi, but if no one speaks Marathi, he does not need to be beaten, but if someone does a useless drama, you should kill under his ear. If you beat someone, do not make a video of the incident.
We are also goons: When violence spread in Mumbai in 1992, the Marathi people here saved the lives of Hindus. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that he will not tolerate hooliganism. So I want to tell them that if he does hooliganism with his language (Marathi), then we are also goons.
Not tolerating Hindi: At the time of independence, we fought for Mumbai. The politicians of that time did not want Marathi to be in Maharashtra. Now the Modi government of the Center says that Hindi, Hindu and Hindustan. We want Hindu and Hindustan, but it will not be tolerated to impose Hindi. Even if your seven generations will impose Hindi on us, we will not let this happen.
