CM Omar Abdullah’s emotional address on Pahalgam attack
Tributes were paid to tourists killed in Pahalgam attack on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said- As a host, I was responsible for security. How did I apologize to the family of these people. I have no words.
Omar said- The security of Jammu and Kashmir is not the responsibility of the elected rule of the people, but as the CM and the Tourism Minister I called them. As a host, it was my responsibility that they could not send them safely.
Omar said- What would they say to those children who saw their father wrapped in blood. What should I say to the widow of the Navy officer who had a few days after getting married. Some people asked what was our fault. We came to Kashmir for the first time to celebrate the holiday. This holiday will have to bear the brunt throughout his life.
Omar said- did not think that there would be such situations
Omar Abdullah said- I am not sure that we were in this house a few days ago and many other issues on the budget were debated. By the postponement of the house, we were hoping that he would meet again in Srinagar. Who thought that there would be such situation in Jammu and Kashmir that he would have to meet here again.
CM Abdullah said that the speaker sir is sitting around you, who have seen their relatives sacrificing themselves. There are so many of us, which have been attacked. We want the attack to be condemned by this House. We can express sympathy with 26 families killed.
Omar said- I do not have alphas, how to apologize
Omar Abdullah said- Speaker, the whole country has been hit by this attack from North to South and East to West. This was not the first attack. We have seen many attacks. We saw the attacks in the villages of Amarnath Yatra, Doda, saw attacks on the settlements of Kashmiri Pandits, the attacks on Sikh settlements.
Abdullah said that such a time had come, Basaron’s attack is such a big attack after 21 years. This attack is the biggest attack on civilians. This is not our strength, this is the story of our past. Now it seems where the next attack will be. I did not have alphas to say what to apologize to the family members of those who died.
