Dalai Lama
New Delhi: A platform of MPs has demanded Bharat Ratna to Tibetan spiritual leader and Guru Dalai Lama. This all -party platform consists of MPs from parties like BJP, BJD and JDU. The MPs have demanded the central government to honor the Dalai Lama with the Bharat Ratna.
What is the whole matter?
The all -party Indian parliamentary forum for Tibet recently supported the proposal in its second meeting and sent a letter to the government. The letter also requested to allow the Dalai Lama to address the joint session of Parliament, which may probably lead to China’s displeasure.
The forum has also launched a signature campaign for the Dalai Lama’s Bharat Ratna nomination, in which the signatures of about 80 MPs have been collected so far. The goal of the forum is to submit the memorandum to the Prime Minister and the President after gathering the signature of 100 MPs.
Rajya Sabha MP Sujit Kumar’s statement revealed
Rajya Sabha MP Sujit Kumar said, “Our group is demanding Bharat Ratna for the Dalai Lama. MPs of opposition parties have also supported in this campaign. We will write a letter to the Presidents of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha requesting the Dalai Lama an opportunity to address in the joint session.”
Dalai Lama has recently celebrated her 90th birthday
Recently, the Dalai Lama celebrated her 90th birthday with pomp. On this occasion, thousands of devotees gathered in the courtyard of Tsugalagkhang temple and paid tribute to the 14th spiritual leader of Tibet. The ceremony was also attended by Union Minister Kiran Rijiju, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Sikkim Minister Sonam Lama and Hollywood actor Richard Gere and expressed their support to the Buddhist leader.
Let us know that the Dalai Lama, who is living in exile in India after Chinese occupation of Tibet in the 1960s, is constantly struggling for the rights of the Tibetan community. The event took place a few days after the recent announcement of the Dalai Lama, in which he clarified that the Dalai Lama institution would continue continuously and the right to recognize their future rebirth will only be the Gaden Fodrang Trust. This statement ended the ongoing speculation about the future of the institution.
