The young man’s mother said that on July 3, the police came in search of her son. According to officials, she went to the Sohra police station with her son at around 9 am.

The woman said in her complaint- “I was surprised to see that my son came out of the police station in the afternoon and came out of the police station.” I immediately took him to Sohra CHC, from where he referred him to Shillong Civil Hospital. He has been hospitalized since then. If my son committed a crime, the appropriate process should have been followed. Before his release, he had to face a third-degree torture at the police station.
