Tariffs increased on these 14 countries

The Trump administration on Monday sent ‘letters’ to various countries that details the fees levied by the US on the products of those countries. Bangladesh, Bosnia & Hergegovina, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Serbia, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand and Tunisia have been sent letters signed by Trump.

  • Cambodia: 36 percent tariff
  • Bangladesh: 35 percent tariff
  • Serbia: 35 percent tariff

  • South Africa: 30 percent tariff
  • Bosnia and Herjegovina: 30 percent tariff
  • Malaysia: 25 percent tariff
  • Tunisia: 25 percent tariff
  • Japan: 25 percent tariff
  • South Korea: 25 percent tariff
  • Kazakhstan: 25 percent tariff

Letter sent to Muhammad Yunus

In a letter sent to Bangladesh Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, Trump said that from August 1, 2025 we will impose a fee of only 35 percent on all Bangladeshi products sent from Bangladesh to the US, which will be different from all regional fees. The US President said that please understand that the 35 percent fee is much lower than the fee required to end the trade deficit inequality with your country. Trump said that if Bangladesh wants to open its “closed” business markets for the United States and eliminate its fees and non-fees policies and business obstacles, we will probably consider the adjustment in this letter. This fee can be reduced more based on our relationship with your country.

Relief period increased for many countries

The President of the US has extended the period of postponing the extended fees on several other countries in a separate executive order. The 90 -day suspension at the fee was to end on July 9.
