New facility of Post Office, Aadhaar Biometric can open PPF-RD account, know details
Indian post has introduced another facility for its customers under which you can also open PPF, RD account online and manage it yourself with the help of Aadhaar Biometric (E-KYC). Earlier, this digital facility was available only for select savings schemes such as monthly income scheme (MIS), fixed deposit (TD), Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) and National Savings Certificate (NSC). This will provide great facilities to customers.
Pay-in slip or withdrawal voucher will open without need
According to the Economic Times news, from April 23, 2025, the Indian post has also included the monthly income scheme, fixed deposit, farmer development letter and national savings certificate, expanding the base-based e-KYC process. Customers can now open accounts without pay-in slip or withdrawal voucher requirement. According to the SB order of July 7, 2025, the postal department can now get the following services under RD and PPF accounts using Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC certification in Indian Post Core Banking Solution (CBS) post offices.
What can you do
According to the news, now RD and PPF account can be opened in them. RD and PPF loan accounts can be opened and distributed. Loans can be repaired in RD and PPF accounts. Withdrawal from PPF accounts (without any limits), post offices can be done using Aadhaar biometric. Not only this, closing the account through e-KYC, change in enrollment, account transfer can also be done.
Hidden base
The Aadhaar numbers on all account opening form and other forms received from the customer for e-KYC-based transactions will appear in the hidden form (XXX-XXX -_). If there is a hidden base in a document, the postmaster will ensure that the first eight digits of the Aadhaar number are hidden with black ink pen or sketch. All post offices and CBS-CPC should ensure that Aadhaar number has been hidden in all existing documents, such as AOF, KYG form, including Aadhaar number.
