Bombed girls’ school in Pakistan (symbolic photo)
Peshawar: In Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a government primary school under construction for girls was damaged by unknown terrorists. The police have given information about this on Friday. Police said improvised explosive device (IED) was used for the blast. No casualties were reported due to the vacancy of the building at the time of the explosion.

According to the police, the terrorists kept explosives inside the premises of Ajan Javed Primary School in Baka Sports Police area of Bannu district. This powerful explosion has caused a lot of damage to the building. Police said an FIR has been registered and the forensic team has been deployed to collect evidence from the blast site. The officials condemned this attack and described it as an attempt to derail educational development in the area.
More than one thousand schools were destroyed
According to a report by the Australian ‘Think Tank’ Lovi Institute, more than 1,100 girls schools have been destroyed in the tribal areas between 2007 and 2017. During this time teachers and girl students have also been targeted. Prior to a comprehensive military campaign launched by Pakistani security forces in 2014, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had carried out hundreds of attacks on girls’ schools in tribal areas of northwest province and other districts of northwest province. After this action, TTP terrorists fled to Afghanistan and were carrying out the plan for cross -border attacks from their new bases.
There have been explosions before
Meanwhile, let us also know here that, five government officials, including an assistant commissioner, were killed in a recent bomb blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. 11 other people were also injured in the blast. The blast took place near the fair ground in Khar tehsil in Bajaur, a tribal district bordering Afghanistan. (Language)
