Jasprit Bumrah Breaks Kapil Dev Record: In the third Test being played at Lord’s, Jasprit Bumrah has made history again with his bowling. In England’s first innings, he took 5 wickets and touched a historic place. His sharp bowling on foreign land once again became a big force for Team India. The record of veteran Kapil Dev is now left behind and Bumrah has now become an Indian bowler to do this feat most times in foreign land.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made history with 5 wickets in the first innings against England in Lord’s Test on Friday. Now he has become the first Indian bowler to take five wickets in Test cricket abroad (out of India). Bumrah’s name has now been recorded for taking 5 wickets in a total of 13 times abroad, while Kapil Dev did this 12 times in his career.
Bumrah started his wickets by bowling Harry Brook on the first day of the match. After this, in the morning session the second day, he destroyed the batting line of England one after the other. He first bowled the captain Ben Stokes, then Joe Root was walking on 104 and also dismissed Chris Woakes on the next ball. He achieved his fifth wicket by bowling Jofra Archer and bowled to England’s innings 387 runs. Bumrah took 5 wickets for 74 runs in 27 overs in this innings.
With this brilliant performance, Bumrah’s name has now been recorded for taking five wickets in a total of 47 Tests. Of these, 4-4 times in Australia and England, 3 times in South Africa, and 2-2 times in India and West Indies.
Not only this, Bumrah has now come second after Ishant Sharma (48 wickets) in the list of Indian bowlers who took the most wickets in Tests on England soil. If he takes another wicket in this series, he will leave Ishant behind and become the most wicket -taking Indian bowler in England.
