Bumper sales of Neera in Bihar, 1.39 million liters of consumption, more than 1 lakh liters of production every day:
- After the implementation of complete liquor ban in Bihar in 2016, the state has moved to a healthy and natural option – Neera. The popularity of this nutritious and non-or-ordeal drinks obtained from palm trees is now increasing rapidly. Only between April and July 10, 2025, more than 1 crore 80 lakh liters of Neera has been collected, out of which more than 1 crore 39 lakh liters of Neera has been sold. This increasing figure is an indication that the citizens of the state have adopted it and it has now made its place as a healthy drink.
- Production of more than one lakh liters every day
- The current speed of Neera production is also shocking. In the last week itself, 4 lakh 87 thousand 532 liters of Neera was collected, which is more than one lakh liters per day. It is being transported to the market through 2,309 sales counters across the state, making it available to people easily.

- According to Excise Commissioner Rajneesh Kumar Singh, Neera is considered extremely beneficial for health. Based on experts report:

- Neera contains minerals like calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus and sodium
- Its intake is intoxicated and it improves digestion
- The antioxidants present in it strengthen the body’s immune system.
- Neera is now becoming a new identity of the state in the form of a health drink, not just a traditional drink.
- Life of toddy businessmen is changing from Neera
- The Chief Minister Neera Promotion Scheme, which has been launched this year, has played an important role in giving permanent employment to toddy communities. The already operated Chief Minister Sustainable Jeevakarjan Yojana has now been strengthened to promote Neera’s production and trade.
- Under the scheme, 10,646 tapers (neera launters) and 11,176 palm tree owners have been added so far.
- Of these, the maximum number of 1,632 tapers are from Vaishali district, 1,184 Gaya, 880 Nalanda, 749 Muzaffarpur, and 664 are connected to Patna district.
- At the same time, most of the people from Vaishali (648), Nalanda (509), Nawada (254), Gaya (207), and Patna (190) are among the plans.
- All these beneficiaries are being given incentive amount through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), which is improving their financial condition.
