Bumrah Equals Shastri Record: On the fifth day of Lord’s Test, when Team India was in crisis, Jasprit Bumrah picked up the bat and not only struggled, but also touched a record that no Indian number 10 batsman had touched for 44 years. Bumrah equaled Ravi Shastri’s old record and also hoped to protect India from defeat.

In Lord’s Test, Jasprit Bumrah’s fire shows not only with the ball, but also with the bat. On Monday, July 14, on the fifth day of the match, when the Indian team was struggling to chase the target of England’s 193 runs, Bumrah set a record by standing at the crease, which no Indian had been able to do for the last 44 years.

India’s innings was 112/8 when Bumrah came to bat after Nitish Reddy was dismissed. England’s pacers were in aggressive mode, but Bumrah, along with Ravindra Jadeja, tried to handle the team in the post -lunch session.

Bumrah faced 54 balls and scored only 5 runs, but during this time he equaled a special record. After Ravi Shastri, he has become the second number 10 batsman of India who played 50 or more balls in the fourth innings of the Test. Shastri did this feat against New Zealand in the Wellington Test in 1981, where he scored 19 runs off 54 balls.

However, Bumrah could not keep restraint for long and at the end of the second session, the substitute fielder James Cook caught a catch.

Significantly, earlier in the match, Bumrah also broke the record in bowling. He took 5 wickets in the first innings and registered his name on Lord’s Honor Board. With the 5/74 figure, he also surpassed Kapil Dev’s record. Bumrah has now become an Indian bowler to take five wickets in the most (13) times abroad, while Kapil’s name was 12 times. So far, Bumrah has taken 217 wickets in 47 Tests and his average is just 19.49.

Talking about the match, the result of Lord’s Test came out on the last day, where England defeated India by 22 runs to take a 2–1 lead in the 5-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. India got a target of 193 runs, but the team was reduced to 170 runs. Except KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, no batsman could stand. Stokes and Archer took 3-3 wickets for England. The fourth Test will now be played in Manchester from 23 July.
