Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandavia has clearly stated in Parliament that India does not have any objection in playing against Pakistan in international tournaments. However, there has been no change in the government’s policy regarding the bilateral series.
BCCI left the government’s decision
In view of the political situation between India and Pakistan, the BCCI had already made it clear that it would have to get approval from the government before playing any kind of match against Pakistan. The BCCI response came when the discussion about the schedule of Asia Cup 2025 was fast. Now it has been made clear from the government that India is going to play against Pakistan in tournaments like Asia Cup or World Cup.
Still suspense on bilateral series
Mansukh Mandavia said in Parliament, “Our stand is clear. Whether it is cricket, hockey or any other game, we have no problem playing with Pakistan in international tournaments. But as far as bilateral chains are concerned, I think the government knows the attitude on it.”
The number of teams in Asia Cup may be less
According to reports, the Asia Cup 2025 can be held from September 5 to September 21. The tournament was planned to be held among the first eight teams, but due to the problems of logistics and scheduling, now only six teams are expected to play.
