Record break action of monitoring bureau, 51 cases registered in 6 months, 45 arrests: Bihar-Vigilance-Bureau-2025-Arst-Record-Coruption

Patna: The ‘zero tolerance for corruption’ policy of the Bihar government is now visible on the ground. In the first six months of 2025, the Bureau of Monitor Investigation has shown tremendous boom in action against corruption. During this period, the bureau has registered a record 51 cases, which is far more than the previous years. This information was given by Shri Jitendra Singh Gangwar, Director General of Bureau on the occasion of ‘First Vigilance Samman Samaroh 2025 cum workshop’ on Monday.

The ceremony was organized in the auditorium of the Monitoring Investigation Bureau in Patna, where such vigilant citizens were honored, who caught corrupt public servants, taking bribes. DG Jitendra Singh Gangwar and IG Garima Malik honored these brave citizens and appreciated their role in the fight against corruption.

Strict stance of monitoring bureau against corruption
On this occasion, DG Gangwar said that since the beginning of the year 2025, the bureau has been making new records of activism. He said that for the first time ‘Vigilance Samman Samaroh’ has been organized, but now it will be held regularly every three months. Looking at the figures, since the beginning of this year, 45 public servants have been arrested, taking bribe. This number is much higher than in the year 2024, when 12 people were arrested in just 8 cases throughout the year.

Action on misuse of disproportionate assets and post
The Monitoring Bureau not only took action in cases of bribery, but also kept a close watch in cases of disproportionate assets and posts. So far, 7 people have been accused in cases of disproportionate assets in six cases. At the same time, a total of 21 people have been named in three cases of misuse of the post.

The bureau has arrested the accused in several major bribery cases in 2025, including Madhubani’s revenue employee Ajay Kumar Mandal, East Champaran Executive Engineer Ajay Kumar, Sasaram’s computer operator Akash Kumar Das, Amin Niranjan Prasad Dangi of Kishanganj, and Muzaffarpur police and inspector Roshan Kumar Singh. Everyone was caught red handed taking bribe.

Accounting of department-wise action
Of the 42 cases in which arrests have been made in the first half of 2025, the highest number of cases were related to the revenue department. After this, 12 from Police Department, 3-3 from Rural Development and Education Department, 2 from Health Department, while Energy, Panchayati Raj, Planning and Development, Municipal Corporation, Fisheries and one officer from Collectorate were arrested.

IG Garima Malik’s appeal
IG Garima Malik said on the occasion that the Monitoring Bureau is alert and committed against corruption. Such vigilance honor ceremony will inspire people and increase public participation against corruption in the society. He said that citizens who get the culprits by informing about corruption will be honored so that others can also be motivated for such awareness.

Inspirational stories of honored citizens
In this program, Sikanti Devi of Bhojpur said that she had applied for her daughter’s marriage under the government scheme, but the labor enforcement officer sought a bribe of ₹ 10,000 from her. He informed the Monitoring Bureau, and then the accused was caught red -handed.

At the same time, Kamesh Thakur of Sitamarhi said that the revenue employee had demanded ₹ 51,000 for filing and dismissing. He also informed the Monitoring Bureau and caught the accused.

Senior officers and citizens present
In addition to DIG Naveen Kumar Jha, DIG Mrityunjay Kumar, respected citizens were present in the program, Neeraj Kumar, Santosh Kumar, Awadhesh Prasad Sinha, Kamesh Thakur, Anil Kumar Rai, Gauri Shankar Singh, Sikanti Devi and Ravi Kumar were present. The event has proved to be a new energy to the campaign against corruption in Bihar.
