India record in clean energy: India has achieved its goal five years ago, making a big jump in the field of renewable energy. India had targeted non-fossil fuel sources by 50 per cent of the total power generation capacity by 2030 under its National Climate Action Plan. India has achieved this target only in 2025. Currently, India’s total power generation capacity is 484.8 GW and out of this 242.8 GW of power is coming from non-fossil sources.
What did Pralhad Joshi say?
Giving information about this achievement of India on the social media platform X on Monday, New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said that when the world is looking for climate solution, India is showing way. It is a proud moment for every Indian that India has gained 50 percent of electricity from non-fossil fuel. He said that PM Modi’s leadership is advancing India’s green change and showing the path of self -sufficient and sustainable future.
What is green energy
Today the world is changing rapidly. The pressure on the environment is also increasing in the blind race of development. Traditional energy sources such as coal, petroleum and natural gas are polluting our environment and giving rise to a serious problem of climate change. In such a situation, green energy is a ray of hope that not only fulfills the needs of energy but also protects the environment. Green energy is called energy sources that are clean, renewable and environmentally friendly. These energy sources are obtained naturally and the use of them does not emit greenhouse gases. Solar energy, wind energy, hydropower are great examples of green energy.
Why is this change important?
Significantly, to protect the whole world from serious consequences related to climate change, the use of organisms like coal, diesel, petrol and gas has to be reduced. For this, many countries have also set goals for themselves, under which responsibility for global warming and climate change is to reduce emissions. In the last few years, India has paid special attention to all renewable sources including solar and now the results are also in front.
