For the second time after the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the leaders of the India alliance are going to hold a meeting on 19 July (Saturday) evening. It will not include Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

According to sources, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has spoken to several leaders including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has also called the leaders of all parties to this meeting to be held at the house of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

This meeting is taking place at a time when the monsoon session is about to begin and there is a fierce battle over the special revision process (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar.

The last meeting of India was held on 3 June this year. In this, there was a demand from the central government to call a special session of Parliament on ‘Operation Sindoor’. At the same time, earlier on 5 June 2024, there was a meeting for the Lok Sabha elections.

Why Trinamool and AAP will not come
The Trinamool Congress is celebrating ‘Martyr’s Day’ on July 21, so its leaders will be busy in Kolkata. At the same time, AAP is engaged in its expansion campaign in Gujarat and other states. The AAP has chosen the path of direct fighting from the Congress in many states and the party says that the India alliance was limited to the Lok Sabha elections only.

However, opposition leaders say that the opposition will remain united in Parliament, even if some parties do not come to the meeting.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had said to end India Alliance in January this year. He had said that there has been no meeting after the Lok Sabha elections. If this alliance was till the Lok Sabha elections, it should be abolished. It has no agenda nor any leadership.

Mamta had said- I created India block, I will lead if I get a chance
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed displeasure on 7 December 2024 over the poor performance of India blocks in Haryana-Maharashtra and by-elections. He had said, ‘I formed an India alliance. If the leaders can not run it properly, then give me a chance. I am ready to lead the alliance from Bengal itself.

Mamta Banerjee’s statement was supported by Shiv Sena (UBT), SP. The BJP had commented on this, ‘Opposition leaders do not trust the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. He still considers Rahul as a raw player of politics.
