Voting age was reduced in Britain.

The UK government, led by Kir Stmper, has decided to reduce the age limit to 16. The government has announced that all 16 and 17 years old teenagers will also be able to vote in the next general elections in Britain. Let us know that the last change in the age of voting in Britain took place in 1969, when it was reduced from 21 to 18 years.

The government of the Prime Minister’s Kir Stmper said that this change will be implemented after the approval of Parliament. The government says that it will also give 16-17 year old youth a chance to speak. Many youths of this age are already serving in the army.

What did the deputy PM say?

Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayanar said, “For a long time, public confidence in our democracy has reduced and confidence in our institutions has decreased. We are taking steps to overcome the obstacles of participation to ensure that more people have the opportunity to join Britain’s democracy.

He said that by implementing changes related to age limit, we are giving the youth a big opportunity to join the main political stream. Under a major change, the voter ID card will also include bank card and existing digital identity cards such as driving license and Veteran card. More and more people can exercise their democratic rights.

Currently, like most countries of the world, the legal age of voting in Britain is 18 years.

Why this change?

The argument behind giving the right to vote for children of 16 and 17 years is that people start working, pay taxes and serve in the army till this age. Democracy Minister Rushnara Ali said that this step would be “a generational step towards restoring public confidence in Britain’s democracy and increasing participation”.

The new rules are also seen making efforts to promote registration of more and more voters.

And in which country teenagers are allowed to vote?

After the new rules are implemented, Britain will join select countries that allow teenagers to vote. Countries that have given franchise to people below 18 years of age include Indonesia (17), North Korea (17), Greece (17), Timor-Last (17), Brazil (16), Argentina (16), Ecuador (16), Cuba (16), Austria (16), Austria (16), Nicargua (16), Malta (16) and Isl off Man (16).
