Nana Patole said- more than 72 officers stranded in Honeytrap
Former Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Thursday alleged that the state ministers, senior IAS and IPS officers were involved in the honeytrap scandal in the state. The data that the government is telling does not stop at 72. Actually it is more.
Patole said- I have all the evidence in the pen drive. We do not want to violate anyone’s personal character, that is why it has not been publicized till now. If the government does not take action, the opposition will be forced to bring it to the public.
Earlier in a report by India Today, it was claimed on Wednesday that several senior officials of Maharashtra had accused a woman of recovery by implicating them in a honeytrap.
According to the report, recently two senior police officers of Thane lodged a complaint that a woman had demanded Rs 40-40 lakh from them threatening to rape.
Opposition’s walkout from the assembly
Opposition parties walked out of the assembly, accusing the government of not taking action in the case. Congress leader Nana Patole on Wednesday demanded investigation and concrete action. Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar had asked the government to take action in the matter and answer the House.
Patole raised the case again on Thursday. On this, the speaker took action before the session ended on Friday and asked them to inform the House. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also assured action.
At the same time, the opposition alleged that the government is showing looseness on sensitive subject. Due to this, opposition MLAs walked out of the House.
The whole matter starts from the year 2016. This year, a woman was arrested in Thane on charges of forcible recovery. She used to call herself a troubled former policeman or widow to seek help from the officials.
According to India Today, the dosier deposited in the session court and the Bombay High Court shows that the woman had accused several officials of rape. Later, with a hefty amount, he withdrew the case or reached a compromise.
To win confidence, she used to talk on WhatsApp, make video calls and also go to meet. During the meeting, she quietly recorded objectionable pictures and videos. She used these recording to threaten the officials and collect money.
In one case, the woman called an IPS officer to the hotel room on the pretext of help. As soon as he entered, he took off his clothes and secretly recorded the conversation. Later the footage was used forcibly.
In another case, the wife of a big officer had to pay the woman to pay the woman so that her husband does not have a rape case. After receiving the money according to the mind, the woman used to compromise. Officers used to remain silent in society for slander and fear of going to the job.
Official papers suggest that this woman’s network spread to big cities like Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nashik. Those who have made him victims include three DCPs of Maharashtra Police, several Excise Officers, Senior Inspector and Assistant Commissioner.
After getting bail from the Bombay High Court, the woman continued her wrongdoing with a new and false identity. According to officials, several cases are under investigation. However, even more victims may come forward.
