Ropeway in Mumbai, considering to start pod taxi- to reduce crowds in local trains

Apart from this, efforts are also being made to increase dependence on other means of traffic to reduce pressure on local trains. Thoughts on other transport options including ropeway, pod taxi
According to a TOI report, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that for travel in Mumbai and its surrounding areas, ropeway, pod taxi, bike taxi and water transport are being considered for traveling to reduce the large number of passengers in Mumbai local. He said, “We are also working on many other options like water transport, bike taxi, pod taxi and ropeway in Mumbai metropolitan area. For pod taxis, MMRDA has been given land in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).
Metro trains are not getting help
Pratap Sarnaik said, “The state government focused on the metro, hoping that this would reduce the crowd in local trains, but so far no special result has been found.” Task force is being formed to make changes in office timings along with other options of transport. The task force will include representatives of private companies working in the state government, Railways and Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The minister said that the purpose of this step is to reduce pressure on local trains during busy time.
More than 7500 deaths in three years
When asked about the deadline of pod taxis, Pratap Sarnaq said, “With the help of Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, this initiative is likely to begin in Baroda in the next one or two months. I have visited the project site myself.” Sarnaq told the assembly on Wednesday this week that 7565 passengers have died and 7293 were injured while traveling in local trains in Mumbai in the last three years. He admitted that the previous measures to reduce the crowd had failed.
