There is a good news for Bengaluru. The fragrance to build another international airport in the city has intensified. Three sites (locations) for another International Airport have currently been shortlisted after the Campagowda International Airport. According to the Times of India news, the state’s industry and infrastructure Development Minister MB Patil will soon meet Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu. According to the information, the proposal is expected to be carried forward in this meeting.

Shortlist has done these three locations

According to the news, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has inspected three possible locations (sites) in April last, although their last report is yet to come. Kagalipura, Harohali and Chikkasolur have been shortlisted for the second airport. All these places are about 25 to 45 kilometers from the city center of Bangalore. Let me tell you, Kagalipura and Harohali are on, Kanakpura Road and the third is located along the Nelmangala -Kunigal Road.

These challenges may be in front of another airport project

It is also reported that the new airport project of Bengaluru may face a challenge with a plan to establish an international airport in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Two possible locations have also been identified for Hosur Airport. However, this requires a no-objection certificate (NOC) from Bial. It is being said that land acquisition can also become a challenge to build another airport in Bengaluru.

Karnataka has already submitted a formal proposal to provide 4,500 acres of land to the central government. However, not all are confident about the suitability of this proposed places. An aviation expert has said on the matter that it would be better to build an airport between Bangalore and Mysuru as it will benefit from regional connectivity and closer industrial centers.
