kutte ke panje marne se kya hota hai: In today’s life, living with pets is no longer a hobby, but it has become a part of many people’s lives. Especially people consider dogs like family members. But when it comes to health and safety, then many questions come out, such as if the dog kills or scratches, can there be rabies? This question has become a topic of discussion from social media to street. Let us know what medical science says behind this question, and is there really the danger of rabies by the dog’s claw?

Dog claw, general event or serious threat?

It is often the case that a pet or stray dog kills the paw while playing or fear, which can cause light scratches or sometimes cut on the skin. Many people take it lightly, but some people get very nervous about it, especially when it is about a deadly infection like rabies.

Indeed, rabies is a viral disease that is mainly spread by the bite of an infected animal. This virus usually spreads through saliva. In such a situation, the question arises that if the dog has just hit the paw, and is not cut, is this infection possible?

Does rabies spread from dog claws?

The answer to this question is “dependent on the situation”. The dog’s paw is not going to spread rabies in itself. But if there is already a virus of saliva or a wound on that claw, and the claw is cut off or scratches it, then there is a risk of theriently infection. However, this is considered very rare.

If the dog is infected with rabies and he keeps licking its claws, it is possible that the virus in saliva comes on it. If the same paw scratches your skin, and blood comes out or open cut, then the chances of spreading infection increases. But according to medical science, this situation is considered low-Risk, but cannot be completely ignored.

In which cases the danger is high?

  • If the dog is stray and does not know its vaccination status.

  • If the claw is cut off your skin and blood has come out.

  • If there was already a dog’s saliva on the claws.

  • If you had an already open wound on your body and there was contact.

What should be done if the dog’s claw is installed?

If the dog has hit you the claw, then follow the steps given below instead of panic:

Wash the wound immediately- First of all, wash the affected area with soap and flowing water for at least 10 minutes. This can reduce the amount of any possible virus.

Apply antiseptic- After wash, apply antiseptic (such as Dettol or Betadine) on the wound.

Consult a doctor- Even if the wound is small, see the doctor immediately and tell how the incident happened.

Anti-rebij vaccine advice- If the doctor feels that there is a danger, then you may be given an anti-rabies vaccine dose. Usually one or two doses are sufficient in the event of scratch.
