The incident took place in Baibar village in Puri district when the victim girl was going to her friend’s house. Three attackers stopped him on the way and put petrol and set him on fire.
The scene of the incident took place one and a half kilometers from Balanga police station. The three accused are absconding, the police have started a search operation. Why the student set fire, no reason has been revealed yet.
Earlier, on July 12, a case of sexual harassment was reported with a student at Fakir Mohan College, Balasore, Odisha.
The student got fed up with this and sprinkled kerosene on herself and set herself on fire outside the principal office. The student died during treatment on 14 July.
