Increased tension between India and Pakistan (symbolic picture)
United Nations: The tension between India and Pakistan is at its peak. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India is not even seen in the mood to spare Pakistan. Meanwhile, the United Nations chief has once again said that the South Asian region and the world cannot tolerate conflicts between India and Pakistan. This conflict will be disastrous for the world including both countries.
Guterres talked to Jaishankar and Sharif
United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on telephone. The negotiations took place amid growing tension in the two countries after 26 people died in a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Sad results can be done
United Nations Secretary -General Stephen Dujarik said in a press conference that Guterres expressed deep concern over the increasing tension between India and Pakistan and emphasized the need to avoid such conflict, which could have tragic consequences. In response to a question of ‘PTI’, Dujarik said that the general secretary is “standing firmly against terrorism, no matter where and anytime.” He said, “I think he is very clear about this. He wants both sides to move towards reducing tension. I mean, the region and the world cannot tolerate conflicts between India and Pakistan, it will be destructive for both countries and the whole world.”
United Nations Security Council condemns
Let me tell you that the United Nations Security Council had strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir last week and emphasized that those responsible for these murders should be held accountable.
India takes tough steps
Significantly, after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty and reduced diplomatic relations with Pakistan. India has asked all Pakistanis entering the country through the Attari border to leave the country by May 1. In response, Pakistan has decided to shut down its airspace for Indian aviation companies.
