After completing the age of five years, more than 7 crore children of the country have not yet updated the necessary biometric in Aadhaar. The Aadhaar issuing Aadhaar for such children is now going to start the process of biometric updates of children through schools across the country. According to PTI news, this work will start in a phased manner in the next 45 to 60 days. This information was given by UIDAI CEO Bhuvanesh Kumar on Sunday.
Schools will become the center of Aadhaar update
According to the news, UIDAI is now developing a technology through which the biometric update of children will be done in the school premises with the consent of the parents. The authority is currently testing this technology and may be ready in the next two months. According to the rules, biometric updates between the ages of 5 and 7 are free, but after 7 years, it has to pay a fee of ₹ 100. If this update is not done in the scheduled time, the Aadhaar number can also be deactivated.
Essential for school entry and other benefits
After biometric updates, Aadhaar card can be used easily in services like admission in school, scholarship, government schemes and examination registration. The Unique Identification Authority of India is planning to provide this facility through schools and colleges for the second compulsory biometric update i.e. MBU at the age of 15 years.
The authority will send biometric machines to every district under this project, which will be sent to various schools on rotation basis, so that more and more children can get the benefit of this facility. The aim of the authority is that all children should get full benefits of government schemes on time and the process related to their identity is easy and accessible.
