Dhankhar has said to resign from his post, citing health reasons in his resignation sent to President Draupadi Murmu. PM Narendra Modi has tweeted on X on Tuesday after Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation as Vice President. PM Modi said in the tweet- “Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar ji has got the opportunity to serve the country in many roles including the Vice President of India. I wish him good health.”

Dhankar’s resignation approved

According to the information, the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has been approved on Tuesday. The Union Home Ministry has reported the resignation of Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar with immediate effect under Article 67A of the Constitution.

What did Dhankar tell in the letter?

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar had said about his resignation sent to President Draupadi Murmu- “To give priority to health care and to follow medical advice, I am resigning from the post of Vice President of India with immediate effect, according to Article 67 (A) of the Constitution.” Let us tell you that Dhankar is 74 years old and he held the post of Vice President in August 2022. His term was up to 2027. Some time ago he had angioplasty in Delhi AIIMS. Apart from this, he was admitted to the hospital for a few days this year.

  • From 1989 to 1991, MP from Jhunjhunu Lok Sabha in Rajasthan.

  • He was the Vice President of India from 2022 to 2025.
