Extra Marital Affairs: In Indian society, there has been a concept of “made for each other” regarding love for a long time. However, in the changing times, this thinking has also changed and now in the new generation, having an affair outside marriage is not surprising. Before you get angry at us for our statement, know that it is not us who are saying this, but a survey by Gleedon, a dating app that provides the option of extra marital affair.

Gleedon is an app that gives the option to meet married couples to go on dates and have physical relations and it is rapidly gaining roots in the metro cities of India. When Gleedon released its survey in 2022, women of Bengaluru were found to be number 1 in having extra marital affairs, however the data released in 2024 has not only changed the previous results but also reflects the changing thinking of the Indian society. Has made it clear.

Gleadon’s survey revealed

Whereas earlier in Indian society marriage was considered a temple of commitment and love, now its definition has changed. This survey conducted by Gleeden shows that the attitude towards extra marital affairs is changing in the Indian society. This survey by Gleeden included 1503 Indians who were married and lived in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. Here Tier 1 means metropolitan cities and Tier 2 means those cities which are close to becoming metro cities. The age of the Indians who participated in this survey was between 25 to 50.

60% Indians like swinging

The research found that apart from the traditional marriage model, new methods of dating are becoming increasingly popular among Indians. Some of these methods are not new in India, but they are now being accepted more openly. For example, the study found that more than 60% of respondents expressed interest in adopting non-traditional dating methods like swinging. Swinging is a sexual activity in which married couples and unmarried people engage in consensual sexual intercourse with others for recreational purposes.

Apart from this, research has also revealed many types of optional relationships which people are liking, these include open relationship (together but not bound to live only with that person) and relationship anarchy (relationship without any conditions). People are accepting more easily. These relationships break the boundaries of traditional marriage and give more openness not only to feelings but also to physical relationships.

Women of this city are number 1 in extra marital affairs

The survey report also throws light on the fact that not only relationships but also the pattern of infidelity in relationships is changing. Traditionally, infidelity was seen as having physical relations with another person, but according to Gleeden’s survey, emotional attraction is also considered a form of cheating. For example, the study found that 46% of men are attracted to platonic relationships, where their partner claims no emotional attachment. These figures change according to geographical factors and in Kolkata this number has reached 52%.

Online flirting also increased the cheating factor

With the increasing influence of the Internet, the digital world has also emerged as a new method of infidelity. The study found that 36% of women and 35% of men find virtual flirting attractive. In cities like Kochi this figure has reached 35%. 35% of the respondents who took part in the survey admitted that they have flirted with someone online. Interestingly, the survey found that fantasizing about someone other than your partner is no longer considered abnormal. 33% of men and 35% of women admitted that they sometimes fantasize about someone other than their partner. Regional variations were seen here too, in Jaipur the figure was 28%, while in Ludhiana it was 37%.

Gleeden’s study highlights the changing nature of relationships in Indian society. It shows how people are now moving out of the framework of traditional marriage and defining relationships as per their needs. The norm of one-sided love is gradually diminishing and people are becoming more free to define relationships as per their needs and expectations.
