Ben Stokes raging on slow over rate penalty, said to ICC- ‘A little common sense should be applied’
Current against India Test series During the third Test, England faced penalty due to the slow over rate and now English captain Ben Stokes has expressed displeasure over it. England had to lose points in the World Test Championship due to the penalty imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), causing England captain Ben Stokes to be quite unhappy.
Stokes is now advocating a more intelligent stand in punishing the allegations for slow over speed during a Test match with the ICC. This star all -rounder has said that over speed should be determined based on the continents of the match and the way of equaling the punishment should be changed according to the place.
Quoting the Yorkshire Post, he said, “Over speed is not something that I am worried, but it does not mean that I deliberately slow down the game. I understand the disappointment associated with it, but I really feel that its structure needs to be considered seriously. General intelligence says that you should consider over-time in different continents. Where you should consider over-per-time. Are, there cannot be the same rules in New Zealand, Australia and England, where 70, 80 percent of the overs bowl. “
Keeping his point, Stokes concluded the controversy and said, “It happens many times during the matches that when there is no bet on the match, you hand off the ball spinner to complete your over. You are playing an international match where you are just trying to get your over-rate back. I don’t think people would like to come and see this.”
