Marketing calls will not get rid of, differences between TRAI and DOT, know the whole matter
Telemarketing calls
TRAI has not accepted the matter of bringing marketing calls to the regulatory framework. The Department of Telecommunications had asked the regulator to bring telemarketers to the regulatory framework to curb fake marketing calls, which TRAI has rejected. The Department of Telecommunications says that the users will get rid of the fake calls coming to the users by bringing telemarketers into the regulatory framework. However, the telecom regulator disagrees about this. Come, let’s know what is the whole matter?
What is the matter?
According to the report of ET Telecom, the Department of Telecommunications, ie DOT, had asked the telemarketers to be brought into the regulatory framework to curb the unwanted marketing calls on the users, which was rejected by the Telecom Regulatory ie TRAI. The Department of Telecommunications last year asked TRAI to prepare regulatory mechanisms for this.
DOT said in its application that it would make it easier for the authorities to rein in fake calls or messages with the arrival of telemarketers in the regulatory framework. The arrival of regulatory framework will make it easier for telecom companies and authorities to stop fake calls and messages. The telecom regulator while responding to this letter of DOT said that doing so can cause many problems. However, last year TRAI asked telecom operators to implement the DLT system, to identify fake telemarketers and stop calls coming from unknown numbers.
TRAI Answer
TRAI said in its reply that the regulator has written this letter to DOT after examining every aspect of the case, which has been made aware of the problems faced by doing so. According to this counter -letter of Telecommunications Department TRAI, the final decision will be taken in this matter by taking opinion from experts. However, due to telemarketers not coming into the regulatory framework, crores of users of the country are not going to get rid of unwanted marketing calls soon.
Let us tell you about 1.5 billion to 1.7 billion and 55 billion every month to users by telemarketers. At present, more than 2.8 lakh business enterprises are added to the telemarketing system. At the same time, around 16,000 telemarketers and 15 telemarketers are associated with it.
Last year, the Telecom Regulatory and Telecom Department had provided a provision of fines on telecom operators to stop UCC i.e. uncertain communication. TRAI says that telemarketers have a commercial agreement with operators. TRAI was about to recover the fine from telemarketers, but the system was infective. Recently, TRAI has imposed a fine of Rs 141 crore on telecom operators. However, the telecom operators have challenged the tribunal over the decision to combine.
