Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has admitted that he did not protect the OBC (Other Backward Classes) as he should have done. Along with accepting his mistake at the Congress participation justice conference, he said that he wants to improve it. He said that if he had understood, he would have done caste census in 2004 itself.

The Congress Participation Justice Conference was held in Delhi on Friday (25 July). In this program, Rahul Gandhi said, “I have been in politics since 2004. When I look back, I think I made a mistake. I did not protect the OBC as I should have done as I should have done. It happened because I did not understand your issues at that time. It’s not my fault, this is my fault. I am going to rectify that mistake. “

Target to honor OBC

Rahul Gandhi termed the OBC class as the country’s poditive force and said that his aim is to honor this power of the country. Citing the Telangana caste census data, Rahul said, “According to the data, no OBC, Dalit or tribal in Telangana got a corporate package of crores. They are only standing in the queues of MNREGA.” Rahul said that he wants to honor these people and uplift them.

OBC issues are buried- Rahul

Rahul said, “OBC issues and problems are hidden. They cannot be seen easily. I regret that if I knew a little about your (OBC) history, about your issues, I would have got a little caste census at the same time. It is my fault. It is not my fault, this is not my fault. I am going to improve that mistake. So it is not to be a political land in Telangana.

Rahul has been advocating caste census

Rahul Gandhi has been talking about the caste census OBC community for a long time. Even before this, he has said on several occasions that the Congress party ignored the OBC class. However, now he has blamed himself for this instead of the party. Rahul Gandhi had also talked about conducting caste census in the House. Caste census also took place in Congress ruled Telangana. After this, when the central government decided to include the data related to caste in the upcoming census, the Congress party including Rahul Gandhi tried to take credit for it.

Rahul’s attention on Bihar election

The OBC stake in Bihar’s Caste Survey (2023) was described as 63%. In such a situation, Rahul’s eye is on the biggest vote bank before Bihar elections. The OBC voters of Bihar are divided on the basis of different castes. In such a situation, Rahul is trying to make them in his favor. In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, OBC voters had given a lot of support to the BJP. At the same time, the Congress got only eight percent OBC votes in 2019. In such a situation, Rahul’s effort is to get the lost vote bank of the Congress and make a dent in the BJP’s vote bank.
