On July 21, on the first day of the monsoon session, impeachment notices against Justice Yashwant Verma were handed over to the presiding officers in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha houses. In the Rajya Sabha, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also gave information about this. After this, there were speculations that the process of removing Justice Yashwant Verma could start from the Rajya Sabha. However, now the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs has removed the misunderstanding.
A large quantity of notes were found in the store room occupied by Justice Yashwant Verma. Till now it is not clear who these notes were and where they came from, but in this case an impeachment motion is being brought against Justice Yashwant Verma. Further investigation may reveal the cash.
What happened against Justice Verma?
On March 14, Justice Verma’s house was on fire. Fire personnel who went to extinguish the fire found burnt notes on the spot. At this time Justice Verma was a judge of the Delhi High Court. On 22 March, CJI Khanna formed a three -member committee for investigation against Justice Verma, who convicted Justice Verma in his report on May 4. On May 8, CJI Khanna recommended the government to remove Justice Verma. Now the impeachment motion against him has come to the House.
What will happen now?
152 Lok Sabha and 63 MPs of Rajya Sabha have signed impeachment motion against Justice Verma. This proposal has been brought together by MPs of all political parties. Now a joint committee will be formed to investigate the allegations against Justice Verma. This committee will submit its report in three months. This report will be presented in the House. Both the Houses will discuss and in the end the proposal to remove Justice Verma will be voted.
