Kaal swallowed before tasting the success of the first Bollywood film
Asha Parikh and Sunil Dutt in the scene of the injured movie.
Whenever a film is a hit in Bollywood, it is usually highly appreciated by the hero-heroine and the director. The director is the backbone of any film, his thinking, vision and leadership decides whether the film will reach the heart of the audience or not, but have you ever thought that the last day of a director’s life can be the release date of his film? One such unfortunate incident happened in 1975, when a Marathi filmmaker said goodbye to the world as soon as his first Hindi film was released.
What was that film?
This story is associated with the film ‘Wounded’ released on 28 July 1975, in which Sunil Dutt and Asha Parekh were in the lead roles. The producer of the film was Tahir Hussain (father of Aamir Khan), while the direction was handled by the well-known director of Marathi cinema, Raja Thakur. This was his first Hindi film. Artists like Rakesh Roshan, Reena Roy, Helen and Johnny Walker were also seen in ‘Wounds’.
How was the story of the film
The story of the film revolves around a person who is sent to jail on the charge of killing his business partner on his wedding night. Rakesh Roshan played Sunil Dutt’s younger brother in the film, while Reena Roy appeared as his girlfriend. Unfortunately, on the same day the ‘injured’ was released in theaters, its director Raja Thakur also passed away. It was a rare and very sad coincidence, before tasting the success of the first Hindi film, he became a move from this world.
Second death on injured set
Not only this, there was a tragedy during the production of this film. Faizal Khan, who was a body double, died during a stunt scene. During the shooting, he lost his life due to serious chest injury while doing stunts. This incident shook all the people present on the set. The music of ‘injured’ was also very popular. In this, Lata Mangeshkar sang the song “Jingal Bell, Jingle Bell”, which was quite a hit at that time. The film was made in a budget of about Rs 1.2 crore and it earned Rs 3.2 crore at the box office, which is considered a big success according to that period.
