After France, now Canada and Malta stood against Israel, made a big announcement about the freedom of Palestine
Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada.
United Nations: After France, now Canada and Malta have also taken a shock to Israel on Wednesday. The two countries announced that they would recognize Palestine as an independent nation in September. The move is a new attempt to increase pressure to end the Israel-Pilistine conflict for nearly 80 years in collaboration with France and the United Kingdom.
Malta’s Foreign Ministry announced
The announcement was made by Christopher Kutzarr, a permanent secretary of Malta’s Foreign Ministry, in the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly earlier. Kutajar said that Malta has long been supporting the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people and our duty as a responsible role is our duty to make us get the concept of two-state solutions into the principle. He said, “For this reason, the government of Malta has taken the theoretical decision that it will formally recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September.”
Canadian PM Carney’s big announcement
Canadian PM Carney said that his country would make this announcement in the annual meeting of world leaders. This meeting will start from 23 September.
He said that the recognition is based on the condition that the Palestinian Authority will conduct the general election in 2026, in which Hamas will have no role and the Palestinian state will be non-seniorized. Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas mentioned these promises in a letter on June 10, but it is not clear what more Karney wants from it.
Malta wants ‘permanent peace in the Middle East’
Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela announced her country’s decision on Facebook first. He said that this decision is part of the efforts to bring permanent peace in the Middle East. It will now join the Mediterranean Islands and European Union members with more than 145 countries, including dozens of European countries, which have already recognized Palestine as a state.
France and Britain have also announced on Palestine
French President Emmanuel Macron had announced before this week’s meeting that his country would also recognize Palestine at the upcoming annual meeting of the 193 -member United Nations General Assembly. Britain’s Prime Minister Kir Stmper announced on Tuesday that Britain would recognize Palestine before the September meeting, but if Israel agrees for a ceasefire and long -term peace process over the next eight weeks, he could retreat from it.
Israel protested
Israel said that he opposes the two-state solution and is boycotting the meeting together with the US. Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Dannon, strongly criticized the new announcements of recognizing 125 countries participating in the conference and Palestine. Danon said, “Some people in the world fight terrorists and extremists, while some people ignore them or resort to appeasement.” “When our hostage is locked in Hamas’s terrorist tunnels in Gaza, these countries are engaged in hollow statements instead of trying for their release. It is hypocrisy and time is a waste of time that gives validity to terrorism and removes the possibilities of regional progress.” (AP)
