Malegaon Blast Case: All the accused including Sadhvi Pragya acquitted, what the court said in the verdict

The 17 -year wait in the 2008 bomb blast case in Malegaon, Maharashtra is over today. The NIA Special Court of Mumbai gave a big verdict in this case today. The court has acquitted all the 7 accused, including Sadhvi Pragya and Colonel Purohit. Special Judge AK Lahoti has ruled in this case. Let us tell you that there was a blast in Malegaon on 29 September 2008. In the blast, 6 people were killed and around 100 people were injured.
What did the judge say in the judgment?
- The judge said in his judgment that the government side had failed to prove that the bomb was planted in a motor bike. The bomb may have been kept elsewhere. There is no evidence of transporting RDX. There is no proof that RDX was brought from Kashmir. There is no proof of who and how the motor bike was parked.
- The stone there was not seized during the commotion that took place after the incident while doing the spot Panchnama. Finger sample was not collected. The evidence collected can be contained.
- The chassis of the bike was not out. It was not restored. Sadhvi is the owner of the bike but there is no proof that the bike was in her possession.
- The government side failed to prove the conspiracy meeting.
- The NIA court ruled in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case. The prosecution proved that there was an explosion in Malegaon, but could not prove that the bomb was placed in the motorcycle.
- There is no evidence to keep or assemble explosives in Srikanth Prasad Purohit’s residence. No sketch of the scene was made by the investigating officer while doing the Panchnama.
- The court has reached the conclusion that the number of injured was not 101, but 95 and some medical certificates were rigged.
- All the witnesses are being given benefits of douts. No religion of the world talks about terror. After this, the NIA court acquitted all the accused.
How was the case investigated?
Mumbai’s NIA Special Court is going to pronounce the verdict today based on about 17 years of investigation, many arrests, statements of witnesses. On September 29, 2008, there was a strong explosion in a motorcycle at Bhikku Chowk near Anjuman Chowk in Malegaon, Maharashtra. It killed 6 people and more than 100 people were injured. The NIA questioned more than 323 prosecution witnesses, of which about 40 were retracted by their statements.
Who were the accused?
Former BJP MP Pragya Thakur, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Ajay Rahirkar, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Sudhakar Chaturvedi and Sameer Kulkarni have been accused of terrorism and criminal conspiracy in the case. All are out on bail. Special Judge AK Lahoti today asked all the accused to appear in the court.
There were serious allegations against Congress
In the Malegaon case, 40 witnesses were hostile. During that time, the ATS was accused of providing statements under pressure. At the same time, the lawyer of the victim side says that he hopes that the culprits will be punished. At the same time, Sameer Kulkarni, the second accused in the Malegaon blast case, says that the role of the police in the entire case has been under suspicion from the beginning.
