Karnataka Labor Minister Santosh Lad has described a large -scale job cut in TCS as “dangerous”.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT service company, is scheduled to trim 12,261 employees this year, most of which will be of mid and senior levels. This is 2 percent of the total number of 6.13 lakh TCS employees. The number of TCS employees was 6,13,069 by 30 June 2025. At the same time, Karnataka Labor Minister Santosh Lad has described the large -scale job cuts in TCS as “dangerous”.

What did the Labor Minister of Karnataka say?

Santosh Lad said on Wednesday, “This is something unique, because suddenly 12,000 people, that too TCS, is a very large number … It is worrying. Our people are talking to them … I will also know the reason ahead of this … I will look at the labor law.” He said that he always softens with emerging companies.

Junior level employees also affected

It is one of the biggest layoffs in the history of the company. Most affected people are mid -to -senior level professionals, although some junior employees, especially those who have been working for a long time, have also been affected.

What did TCS say?

The TCS said in the statement that this step is part of the company’s comprehensive strategy to become an organization ready for future. Under this, attention will be focused on investing in new technology fields, admission to new markets, using large -scale artificial intelligence (AI) for customers and themselves, strengthening partnerships, building the next generation infrastructure and reorganizing your workforce model.

‘AI will be hit on many companies right now’

Meanwhile, experts have started to probate more such cases in the coming times due to the increasing influence of AI and automation. Faisal Kavusa, the founder and chief analyst of Techrch, said the enterprises are now expecting more work from IT service companies using AI. Kavusa said, “In such a situation, cost pressure will force to trim. We should see it as a part of a major developments in AI-run IT where AI agents will quickly replace human agent. ”
