Tension after objectionable posts in Pune’s Daund: Stoning at religious site
The tension has increased after an objectionable post on social media on Friday at Pune’s Daund. A crowd of two groups set fire to several trains on the streets.
Stoned at the Dharmink site. The incident is from Yawat village of Daund, 80 km from Pune. In view of the tension, the weekly market of Yavat has been closed.
The police had to release tear gas shells to control the situation. Yavat Police Inspector Narayan Deshmukh said that the name of the objectionable post is Syed and has taken into custody.
First understand this matter
In fact, on 26 July, there was an incident of tampering with the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the Neelkantheshwar temple in Yavat. There was a protest against this since Thursday.
On this dispute, an objectionable post of a young man went viral on Friday. After this, the protesters reached the young man’s house in Sahakar Nagar of Yavat and vandalized. Then there was a confrontation between the two sides and there was a situation of tension.
Police officer said- Deployment of police force increased in the area
SP Sandeep Singh Gill said that in the afternoon it was reported that a young man in Yawat village had posted objectionable posts on his WhatsApp and Facebook status. After this the boy was brought to the police station. Necessary action was started, but by then the post went viral on social media.
Angry people protested on the streets and stoned at the religious site. However, the incident has not been injured. The deployment of police force in the area has increased. The situation is currently under control.
Earlier in March, there was violence on two sides in the Mahal area of Nagpur, Maharashtra over the Aurangzeb tomb dispute. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad burnt the effigy of Aurangzeb, followed by violence. Officials had said that the rumor spread that the protesters lit a religious book with effigies. This caused stone pelting on two sides. Many trains were vandalized.
