Son of Sardar 2 Movie Review: Getting better half -hour short film

The Sun of Sardar, released in 2012, was neither a big hit nor any memorable film that it seems necessary to make a sequel. But Bollywood producers, who are struggling with the lack of scripts, now also bring a sequel to such forgotten films. Son of Sardar 2 is also a similar example, with a rift of relationships, lies and fabrics of family drama, which has a temper of comedy, but tastes incomplete.

This time in Son of Sardar 2, the foundation of the story rests on the breakdown of relationships, lies and family drama, which definitely has a temper of comedy, but not as much as Zayaka that remained in the mouth for a long time.

The story revolves around Jassi (Ajay Devgan), who lives in India with his mother (Dolly Ahluwalia), while his wife Dimple (Neeru Bajwa) lives in Scotland. When Jassi reaches Scotland to meet Dimple, he is heartbroken knowing that Dimple is divorcing him. Now return to India and tell the mother?

In the same confusion he takes a house on rent in Scotland, which is from Rabia (Mrinal Thakur), Gul (Deepak Dobriyal, who is now transvuman), Mehvish (Kubra Saat) and Rabia’s daughter Saba (Roshni Walia). Situation becomes such that Jassi has to become a fake father of Saba and in this trap of lies, the circumstances of humor are created.

Son of Sardar 2 is inspired by Turkish film ‘Aile Arasinda’, which Jagdeep Singh Sidhu and Mohit Jain have tried to mold for the Indian audience. Admittedly, in such a film, one should not talk about logic, but do not throw so much that the audience starts getting annoyed.

More distance from the logic of the story and excessively lies make the film weak in the first half. Many comic scenes fall flat. The first hour of the film is very dull and the audience has trouble in keeping pace with what is happening. Things have been drawn excessively.

In the second half, as the truths of the characters are revealed, the atmosphere of laughter sets up and in the final 30 minutes the film catchs somewhat, but by then it is too late. Viewers lose their interest in the film.

The matter is also disturbed due to having too many characters and subplots as these things were not handled properly. Some characters and all plots seem purposeless because it is not developed properly. There are some scenes that make the audience laugh, but their number is less.

Vijay Kumar Arora is directed by average. As he made the film in the last minutes, he would have produced something else if he had produced the entire film. Comedy looks forced at some places and directors should avoid such scenes.

Talking about acting, Ravi Kishan and Deepak Dobriyal are remembered after the film. Ravi Kishan is tremendous in the role of Raja Sandhu, especially his dialogue delivery and desi style tickles the audience. Deepak Dobriyal is a surprise package as Gul. He has played a transgender character with fun.

Talking about lead actors Ajay Devgan and Mrinal Thakur, Ajay’s acting is fine, but due to the shortcomings of the script, their character could not be enhanced. Mrinal Thakur’s dance and screen presence is good, but the character seems incomplete.

The work of some artists including Sharat Saxena, Chunky Pandey, Sanjay Mishra, Kubra Saat, Mukul Dev, Dolly Ahluwalia is the average of some.

There is nothing special in music. Filming of some songs is good and the credit goes to cinematographer Aseem Bajaj, who has filmed well from the scotland plains to Punjabi Chic-Bat. Background scores and editing are fine, but the length could be reduced slightly. The dialogues of the film are excellent.

Ravi Kishan and Deepak Dobriyal’s performance, half an hour of the last, beautiful location and costumes are plus points of the film, but the first slow and boring half, weak screenplay and more characters reduce the effects of plus points.
