Amarnath Yatra adjourned from August 3, why was the decision taken before the scheduled time? This reason came out
Amarnath Yatra
Srinagar: The Amarnath Yatra has been postponed before the scheduled time. The administration decided to postpone the annual Amarnath Yatra a week before its conclusion. This decision has been taken due to the need for maintenance of damaged routes due to recent rains. Officials gave this information on Saturday.
The journey was to be concluded on 9 August
The Amarnath Yatra, which started from July 3 this year, was to conclude on August 9 on the day of Rakshabandhan. However, the authorities decided to reduce its duration by citing “significant repair and maintenance works” in view of heavy rains. Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said here, “The journey has been closed on both routes recently due to the need for maintenance of the route at both the Baltal and Pahalgam ends of Shri Amarnathji Yatra route.
410,000 devotees visited
He said, “It was observed that we will not be able to restart the journey from tomorrow due to the deployment of workers and machinery on the route. So the journey will be postponed from both routes from August 3.” Bidhuri said that this year more than 410,000 passengers have visited the holy cave temple. In comparison, more than 510,000 pilgrims appeared last year.
The situation worsens due to bad weather
Earlier, the Amarnath Yatra was adjourned till August 3 in view of the safety of pilgrims. After heavy rains, this step was taken due to the release of repair and maintenance on both the pilgrimage routes. But due to continuous weather bad weather, it was finally decided to postpone the yatra from August 3.
It is said that there was a recent heavy rains on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes in the travel area, so there is a need to do immediate maintenance work on the Baltal route after this heavy rains. But now since there is less time left in the journey and repair work is not possible. In view of the risk, it has been decided to postpone the Amarnath Yatra from August 3.
